It is very important that you exercise every day. This does not mean that you have to join a gym to exercise. You can exercise with your friends at school, at home, at football club, at Irish dancing and many more places. Exercising can be fun and also is very important to keep you healthy and strong.

 

 

 

Why exercise is cool!!!

When you exercise, you are helping build a strong body that will help you do all the things you need to do.  You need to be strong for when you become an adult. Think of how strong your Mammy or Daddy is and all the things they need to do every day.

 

 

Exercise makes your heart happy!!

You may have learned in school that your heart is a muscle and like every other muscle you need to exercise it to keep it strong. Your heart has a very important job as it pumps blood all over your body every second of your life. You can exercise your heart by doing aerobic exercises. These are exercises that make your heart beat faster. Did you ever put your hand on your heart after running and feel it beating really fast? This is because you have exercised it and are helping make it stronger.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So what are these aerobic exercises?

Exercise that makes your heart beat faster, like running, basketball, football, dancing, cycling, and lots lots more are called aerobic exercises.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 Exercises strengthens muscles

You also need to do some exercise which can help strengthen all the other muscles in your body. Did you ever do a push-up or swing across the monkey bars? By doing exercises that use your muscles to do powerful things, you are helping make your muscles stronger.

 

These are some activities that help build strong muscles:

  • Push-ups

  • Tug-of-war

  • Rowing

  • Running

  • Cycling

 

Do you want to be flexible?

It is also important to do exercises which will make you flexible and help your muscles and joints move easily through all their movements without feeling tightness or pain.

Stretching is very important when exercising to improve flexibility. It is easy to find exercises to help you stay flexible such as gymnastics, yoga, martial arts and simple stretches such as touching your toes.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Exercise makes you feel good!!

One of the most important thing about exercising is it makes you feel good. Joining clubs such as football or swimming helps you meet new people and make new friends.

It feels good to have a strong, flexible body that can do all the activities that you enjoy. But you may not know that when you exercise, you brain releases chemicals called endorphins, which make you feel happier.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

So get out there, get active and let exercise help your body and mind!!!
