Bizzy Break!

 

Bizzy Break is a series of activities for the classroom, designed to get pupils moving onthe spot. Children participate in the activity from their desks usingthe available space andthe activities focus on strength, flexibility and aerobic fitness.The break, which takes no longer than 10 minutes and requires minimum equipment, isguided by a large poster for the classroom, teacher’s notes and a specially commissionedmusic CD. Bizzy Break! for Rainy Days

 

A booklet containing a series levels of short (5-10 minutes) physical activity breaks for theclassroom. Some of the activities can also be included in numeracy and literacy lessons. The Rainy Day activities are designed to help contribute to the recommended 60 minutes

of physical activity essential for children's growth, development and heart health. The booklet has 10 activity ideas for each of the four levels (Junior & Senior, First & Second Class, Third & Fourth Class, Fifth & Sixth Class).

Action for Life Volume 2

 

Complements Volume 1 and uses expertise and knowledge from the original team. The Volume 2 resource was developed to reflect changes in both the PE and SPHE curricula and to modernise the original resource. There is a focus on the strands of Gymnastics and Dance.

Adaptations for those with differing abilities are included with the activities.

Active School Flag (ASF)

 

The Active School Flag (ASF) is a Department of Education and Skills (DES) initiative which seeks to recognise schools that strive to achieve a

physically educated and physically active school community by allowing them to fly the Active School Flag.

The ASF website www.activeschoolflag.ie provides comprehensive and up todate information about the initiatives, programmes and resources that are available to schools wishing to improve their PE and physical activity provision.

Let’s get active award pocket planner

A great way to encourage children to get at least 60 minutes of exercise every day by recording how much activity they do each day. After 4 weeks, they will be awarded with a free certificate of achievement in order to recognise and reward regular participation in physical activity.The resource is suitable for 7-8 year olds.
